NYC Restaurant Review: Crevette
When I saw that Patricia Howard and Ed Szymanski, owners of NYC hotspots Dame and Lords, were opening a new restaurant, Crevette, I immediately knew it was going to be good. It was so much fun to follow Crevette’s journey on social media- from the initial renovation of the space (including four stunning, brightly colored tile bathrooms!) to the meticulous crafting of the menu. Seeing the owners pour their heart and soul into every detail, all while navigating parenthood, makes this restaurant's success even sweeter.
We started with two appetizers: The Sicilian Sashimi was a standout. The restaurant graciously accommodated my co-diner's allergy, plating the trout separately for me. The tuna, trout, yellowtail, and scallop were exquisitely fresh, drizzled with high-quality olive oil, and perfectly seasoned with salt, chives, capers, and finely diced shallots. I would order this again in a heartbeat.
The Bluefin Tuna, Guindilla Pepper & Crispy Potato was a flavorful and fun dish. The tuna was fatty and fresh and the crispy potato was a great warm and crunchy contrast. Next time, I look forward to trying the Red Shrimp and Uni Tartare and the Poached Pink Shrimp, Aïoli & Calabrian Chili!
Our server recommended the Florence Fennel, Mint & Pecorino Salad, and I'm so glad they did! The refreshing combination of fennel and pecorino was perfectly balanced and a great palate cleanser.
My absolute favorite dish of the night was the Spanish Tortilla with Peekytoe Crab & Seaweed Butter. It was cooked to perfection, the flavors melded together seamlessly, and it was simply divine. I'm already craving it and can't wait to return for another taste. Bravo!
To finish, we shared the Seafood Rice with Saffron, Razor Clams & Lobster. I definitely recommend ordering this as a side with other entrees. I look forward to trying the Grilled Golden Chicken with Persillade & Pommes Frites the next time I come in. A few of our neighboring tables ordered it and it looked perfect- I have a feeling it will rival some of my other favorite chicken dishes in the city, like Forgione and Chambers.
For dessert, we ordered Choux à la Tarte Tatin, which was very well done and a great combo of sweet and tart. Next time, I'll definitely be trying the Rhum Cake.
To drink we also enjoyed the Hemingway Daiquiri and a White Negroni- both of which were perfectly balanced and complemented our meal beautifully.
I am so glad I got to try Crevette on its opening night and will definitely be back soon (hopefully later this month!).
